Pixels was pretty much destroyed by box-office reviewers. Even reviewers, such as tech and gaming bloggers, seemed to hate the movie.
Honestly, as an arcade geek I thought it was a really fun movie. I went into the movie expecting to be let down (based on reviews) and it wasn't at all.
Sure, it isn't a realistic concept (Kevin James as president, arcade game characters come to life to attack Earth) but it was a fun movie, especially considering that some of the personalities emulate real-life 'arcade celebrities' and their shenanigans.
If you are into Arcades and gaming, the movie is worth a watch!
