About the Expo

The Southern-Fried Gaming Expo (SFGE) is a 3-day fan convention focused exclusively on gaming. The expo is held June 8-10 at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta, GA, and boasts over 250 full-sized arcade games, pinball machines and console systems, along with tabletop gaming, vendors, special guest speakers, a film fest, wrestling, tournaments and more! SFGE is a family-friendly event that will be fun for all ages.

Texas Pinball Festival 2018

Show Info

The 2018 Texas Pinball Festival will be held the weekend of March 16th-18th, 2018 in a HUGE 40,000 square foot game room! We’ll be at the Embassy Suites Dallas – Frisco Hotel and Conference Center in Frisco again, and we want to top what we did last year and fill this space with more than 400 pinball machines, classic video games and other game room goodies set up on free play for everyone to enjoy the entire weekend. Leave your quarters at home!

Children under 5 get in free. Pre-register for the 2018 Texas Pinball Festival starting October 1st, or find out how get in FREE when you bring a game! T-shirts, tournament tickets, and other merchandise will be available for pre-order and sale at the show. You can find details on our swag page. And don’t forget to book your room. Vendors, collectors and hobbyists from the surrounding area and beyond will be bringing parts, supplies, game room memorabilia, pinballs, video games and more for sale. People just like YOU will be bringing their own machines to share. Lucky winners will take home door prizes and someone will take home a new pinball machine from our annual American Heroes raffle.

The Texas Pinball Festival opens it’s door Friday evening at 5pm and will stay open until 1am on Friday and until midnight on Saturday. The hotel offers multiple options for food and drink. And don’t worry about trying to find a way home. We’ve contracted at several hotels for a block of rooms available at a special rate just for our guests. Do you have what it takes to be a pinball wizard? A variety of adult and children’s tournaments will be held throughout the weekend to test your skills. Compete against others for trophies, ribbons and cash prizes. You could walk out a superstar!

Saturday, March 17th starting at 8:00am, the DFW Pinball and Arcade Club will be putting on an outdoor flea market and swap meet featuring coin operated collectibles, project machines and more! DESCRIPTION

Free Play Florida 2017 is an exciting three day event that encompasses a complete Pinball, Arcade, and Console gaming experience. This November 17th thru the 19th, Free Play Florida is being held at the beautiful Doubletree Sea World by Hilton right off I-4 and International Drive. All of your classic and current pinball and arcade games will be on display for you to play, join the International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) sanctioned pinball tournament and compete with the best in the state of Florida, , sit in on our speaker panels that include industry icons, and visit our valued vendors selling parts, memorabilia, and some of the coolest themed art on the planet!

Grand Ole Gameroom Expo

Welcome

Welcome to the GRAND OLE GAMEROOM EXPO, Nashville's annual Arcade, Pinball, and Video Game Expo. We are back for our second year at Franklin Marriott Cool Springs on November 10-12, 2017. We are just 20 minutes south of Nashville in the Cool Springs Galleria shopping and business district of Franklin.

This is a public event for gamers of all ages. Join us for a weekend packed with over 200 arcade and pinball games all set to free play. Play classic arcade games like Donkey Kong, Centipede, Ms Pac-Man, Double Dragon, Street Fighter II, and many others. Also play many classic pinball games like Black Knight, The Addams Family, and even some of the latest pinball games from Stern like Aerosmith, Ghostbusters, Game of Thrones, and Metallica.

The Expo also has over 60 game consoles spanning the Atari 2600 to the latest Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and Playstation VR. There are multiple tournaments for casual players and competitive players on games like Super Smash Bros.

Games will also be for sale at the event.  This is a great event to attend if you are in the market for an arcade or pinball machine for your home. Collectors who bring games have the option to sell them at the close of the event on Sunday. You can try the games out in person and contact the owner if you want to buy.

Tickets

Tickets for the Grand Ole Gameroom Expo can be purchased in advance at a discounted price or at the door the day of the event. We recommend the Discounted 3-Day Weekend Pass so you have plenty of time to play your favorite games. We also encourage you to bring the whole family. Kid's tickets are discounted even more so bringing the whole family won't break your budget. If you are traveling from out of town we recommend booking your hotel and buying your tickets early.

Flippin' in Fultondale

Flippin’ in Fultondale, August 12, 2017, just a few miles north of Birmingham, Alabama. Entry fee is $20. Practice starts @10am Central. Qualifying starts @11am. I expect the tourney to be finished by approx. 7-8pm.

Format is limited best game qualifying and PAPA style groups of 4 for finals. There will be eight games and your best score on all eight games count. Everyone will get exactly 13 entries to play in qualifying. Scoring is 100 for 1st, 90 for 2nd, 85 for 3rd, then decreasing by 4 points for every place below that. Everyone will have approx. 3 ½ hours to get all their entries in. For those interested, this should equate to 92% TGP for IFPA points.
The top 12 qualifiers will go to the finals with the top 4 getting a bye in the first round (assuming there are at least 24 players). In addition, the next 4 qualifiers will go into a “B Division” finals. Please note that the B finals will only be for a prize and will not affect the finishing order for IFPA results.

All entry fees will be paid out in prizes as follows: 36%, 28%, 18%, 10%. There will be a single prize to the winner of B Division of 8%. Also, there will be $20 bounties available on all eight games for reaching certain scores or objectives. I am putting the bounty money up so it is not coming out of the main pot. Food and drinks will also be provided.
This tourney is in a private residence and is limited to 28 players due to space and number of available games. Please PM me or email me at sccasolotoo "AT" yahoo "dot" com to get on the player list and for the address.

The games are all in excellent playing condition and will be set up tough! They are: Tron, GOT premium, AFM, Met premium, CV, Tommy, LOTR, and The Shadow.

Pinburgh 2017

The Pinburgh Match-Play Championship, a PAPA event sponsored by pair Networks Inc., is the largest pinball tournament in the world, featuring 305 pinball machines and 800 players battling the silverball over three days (Thurs – Sat) of competition. Pinburgh will offer plaques for all of the top finishers in each division and a guaranteed $100,000 prize pool.

Pinburgh’s match-play format offers a social experience as players from all over the world compare skills during a series of multiplayer matches spanning the first two days. On Thursday, each player will compete in five rounds, each consisting of four, four-player matches to determine the appropriate skill division for all players. Divisions will be marked as A / B / C / D, with Division A being the most skilled. On Friday, players will compete against other players solely within their own skill division in order to determine seeding for the final rounds. On Saturday, the top 40 in each division will compete in separate divisional finals.

Pinburgh competitors must pay a $120 tournament registration fee in addition to general admission, making the total cost for Pinburgh and a full event pass $215.

REFUND POLICY: We outsource our ticket sales, event registration, and refunds to ShowClix.com. All ticket purchases, registrations, and refunds will be processed by their team.

Refund requests for general admission tickets will be honored until July 21. Players requesting a refund for the additional tournament registration fee between December 1 and March 15 will receive a full 100% refund. Players requesting a similar refund between March 16 and June 30 will receive a 50% refund. Players requesting a refund for the tournament fee between July 1 and July 21 will receive a 25% refund. No Pinburgh registration refunds will be given after July 21 for any reason. Due to the existing waitlist, Pinburgh tickets CANNOT be transferred to another person. We will issue individual refunds as appropriate and proceed through the waitlist in order. All associated processing fees will be paid by the ticket purchaser when any refund is given. All games used in the Pinburgh tournament will remain on free-play.

2017 South Louisiana Summer Pinball Tournament

Main tournament: Double elimination format bracketed matches, best 3 out of 5 matches on winners side of the bracket, best 2 out of 3 matches on the losers side. Random seeding. $20 entry fee, Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, an 3rd place (likely 60%, 30%, 10% of main tourney pool, less cost of trophies). Earn IFPA points. Arrive time is Sat morning from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM, practice and sign-up from 9:30 to 10:45 am, pre-tournament mtg from 10:45 to 11 am. Start tournament around 11 am. 
Side tournament: Houma Hole-in-1 Pingolf Tournament

9 holes of pingolf. Objectives will be noted on player score sheets or on each machine. Max score each hole is 7 on 3-ball games, or 6 on 5-ball games. $10 entry fee, trophy for 1st place winner, no cash pay-outs. Earn IFPA points. Same arrive/practice/start/end times as main tourney. 

Party: Is from 10 am to 10 pm. Bring whatever food and drinks you want. May want to bring a fold-out chair. This fun event is at a private residence in a neighborhood, so please be respectful of guests and neighbors. Parking is somewhat limited, so please try to car-pool together, and park in host's yard and driveway, and then along road as needed. Our hosts Josh and Raynna will provide some food, drinks, cups, plates, etc.

Another tourney happening in Huntsville at Ronnie Rayguns on March 18th. They are limiting the number of players to 20. So if you want to play you need to let Jeff Sanders know on the Outlanes Pinball League facebook page.

Basics: $20/entry, Group matchplay, 4 rounds of 3 games each. IFPA scoring(7,5,3,1). Practice from 9-11am. Tourney starts 11am. I think last time they paid prizes to the top 3 or 4 players. Great food and beer as well.

Also, apparently there is another one on May 20th if you can't make it to this one.

On Saturday, Nov, 19, 2016 we will be hosting our annual sanctioned pinball competition event in Louisiana, entitled the “PinChurch Open”.

There will be 3 separate competitive divisions: EM/vintage, Classic/solid state, Modern/DMD - competitors can compete in one or all of the divisions. Overall champion will be whoever does best across all divisions.

Southern Coin-Op presents Pinball in Pelham 2

Southern Coin-Op presents Pinball in Pelham 2, November 19th 2016. We’re following up our first tourney with a very similar format. The entry fee is $30. Practice will be available from 8:30-10:00 am. Tourney begins promptly at 10:15am. Format is group match-play with IFPA scoring. Machines will be arranged into banks of three games, with each bank consisting of a DMD, Solid State, and EM. Each player will play six rounds for a total of eighteen games. There are no finals, just highest point total wins!

Details! Seeding in the first round is random. All rounds after that the seeding is based on Swiss pairing, meaning players will be paired with players who have similar points totals. Banks will be assigned using the balanced method, meaning every effort is made to put you on a different bank each round. Tie breaking will be automatic by the software based on your number of wins and second places. However, any ties in the top six positions will be broken by playing a single game chosen at random.
Prizes will be awarded to the top six finishing positions of 38%, 28%, 15%, 8%, 6%, 5%. There will also be door prizes and another pinball machine will be raffled off! There will not be any food provided but we will take a one hour lunch break after the first or second round. So pack a lunch or go to one of the many places to eat within 5 minutes of Southern Coin-Op. The address for Southern Coin-Op is 108-A Hilltop Business Center Drive, Pelham, Alabama 35124.

Bowling Afternoon

In August we are going to try another bowling day.

Eastern Shore Lanes is owned and operated by the family who owned and operated Gulf Bowl in Foley. Dusty (the bar is named after him) is a super cool guy, a naturally epic lefty bowler and dabbles in other industries in our area as well.

They run (own) and maintain their own redemption arcade and laser tag at each location. However you feel about newer redemption arcades, you have to give it up for their investment in bringing these highly expensive modern games to our area.

I'm constantly working on Dusty about how Pinball and Classic Arcades have a following in our area, so I'd like to try to bring a group of folks to pay it forward in patronage to a great local bowling alley. Bowling alleys are where many of us played our first Pac-Man, Galaga or Pinball and bowling is as entrenched a part of Americana as our classic arcades and pinballs. Maybe you guys can help me convince him to bring pins back to his locations? :)

Personally, I'd love to form a league but I don't know that we have the interest in terms of availability for that quite yet. Small steps first, right?

Families Welcome..

You are responsible for your party's bowling fees, food, laser tag and arcade cards. Please RSVP so I know how many lanes to book. Right now, I have two lanes booked.

For bowling, the price per person comes out to be about $4 per person per bowling hour. 
(You will pay that to me.)

In addition there is a $4 shoe rental fee if you need to rent shoes. (You will pay that to Eastern Shore Lanes)

We may grab dinner somewhere local afterwards (or at Eastern Shore Lanes restaurant) - details on that TBD.

I know this location maybe isn't best for the Pensacola and Mississippi members, that's the challenge for having us spread out. I encourage any of our friends in Pensacola, MS, etc to freely use this group to coalesce your local enthusiast friends. Ping me if I can assist you in that in any way.

2016 South Louisiana Summer Pinball Tournament

Tournament starts at 2:00PM you can start arriving around 12:00PM to practice. Drinks and snacks will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own. Tournament format is Double elimitation best 3 out of 5 matches. Entry fee is $20.00 Prize money for 1st 2nd 3rd place. Machines will be set on free play at private location. Will be a IFPA points Tournament.

Southern Fried Gameroom Expo

The Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo (SFGE) is a 3-day convention focused solely on everything gaming. The expo is held June 10-12 at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta, GA, and boasts over 250 full-sized arcade games, pinball machines and console systems, along with tabletop gaming, vendors, special guest speakers, movie screenings, tournaments and more! The event is a family-friendly event that will be fun for all ages.

Texas Pinball Festival

The 2016 Texas Pinball Festival will be held the weekend of March 18th-20th, 2016 in a HUGE 40,000 square foot game room! We’ll be at the Embassy Suites Dallas – Frisco Hotel and Conference Center in Frisco again, and we want to top what we did last year and fill this space with more than 400 pinball machines, classic video games and other game room goodies set up on free play for everyone to enjoy the entire weekend. Leave your quarters at home!

Show Times: Friday 5pm-1am, Saturday 10am-midnight, Sunday 9am-2:30pm.

Adventure Island Arcade and Pinball Excursion

In February, headed down to Adventure Island for some Arcade and Pin stuff and food. Fat Daddy's is right there as well, so we may jump across the way to check out their arcade as well.

I'm working to get the list of games that Matt expects to have up and rolling for that weekend. The plan is to post this for some IFPA tournament play. 

If anyone is interested, I need some scorekeeper volunteers for that.

Southern Coin Op Amusement / Magic City Pinball League Open Tournament

Florida Arcade & Pinball Exposition

Scheduled for February 19th - 21st, 2016 at the Mardi Gras Casino (Hallandale Beach, FL)

The Florida APE is an annual celebration featuring a large assortment of coin-operated pinball, videogame, and other related gameroom equipment from yesteryear. 

The show was born in 2004 with a desire to share fun coin-operated games that now mostly reside in the hands of private collectors, and to spread the word that pinball machines were once plentiful, and that videogames were not always synonymous with fighting and violence. 

All games being exhibited are free to play.
